Hanson’s monoculturalist rhetoric is ramping up. It’s still confused

Between Pauline Hanson’s monocultural struggle and Karl Stefanovic’s career-ruining friendship with Tommy Robinson, it’s been a momentous few weeks for Australia’s immigration wars. We are long past the moral panics of African gangs and the economic panics over jobs and housing. Now the radical right will drag us into the quagmire of the ethno-nationalist offensive that is roiling politics in the UK and US.
But as the rhetoric escalates, those pushing it are struggling and misrepresent the depth of support for Australia’s unusual model of multiculturalism.
