Harry and Meghan ‘won’t return to UK’ after move leaves King Charles blindsided | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
King Charles held a top-secret meeting with his 41-year-old son Prince Harry, his 44-year-old daughter-in-law Meghan Markle and the 77-year-old monarch’s children, 7-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Lilibet, whom he has not seen for four years. The private meeting, which included Queen Camilla, took place at Charles’ country home, Highgrove House, according to Buckingham Palace.
A royal commentator has claimed Meghan’s latest move will send shockwaves through the Palace despite the King’s efforts to keep the meeting secret. It comes after the Sussexes shared family photos with the children after visiting Princess Diana’s childhood home and final resting place. The Sussexes arrived in the UK for their “summer holidays” and Harry arrived days earlier to kick off his one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham.
TalkTV host Mark Dolan spoke to royal biographer Angela Levin about their visit to the Althorp estate, the family home of the late Princess Diana.
Meghan shared a photo of five-year-old Lilibet walking among the trees in the sunlight, with seven-year-old Harry and Archie walking a few steps ahead.
Harry appeared to be carrying bouquets, leading to the idea that they were paying tribute at Diana’s grave. His grave is on an island in the middle of the Oval lake but is closed to the public.
Angela said: “They want to make a series about how Diana died and that’s why they were so desperate to come here and stay in the country. They came here to take pictures.”
He claimed: “I’m sure that was the only reason they wanted to come, not to see the king, not to see anything else, but so they could go to Althorp and take pictures.”
Presenter Mark said they “couldn’t stop announcing their return to the UK” and had to “announce it to the world”.
Angela said they should “stop coming back to the UK”.
“They really need to stop them from coming into the country and living with us,” he said, “We can’t take this anymore. Absolutely not.”
The property was reportedly closed to the public from July 10 to 11, presumably to allow the family to enjoy Harry’s late mother’s home in privacy.
People reported: “The trip gave Archie and Lilibet the opportunity to spend time in a place so closely tied to their late grandmother, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997 when Harry was 12.”
