A heavily pregnant mother-to-be was kidnapped, stabbed to death and her baby removed from her womb, days after announcing she was having a girl.
María Camila Potosí, 21, was eight months pregnant when she disappeared after leaving her home in Cali, Colombia, on July 16 for a routine prenatal checkup.
The young woman was found wrapped in sheets and under her blanket four miles from her home on Monday.
Police in the city determined that the woman had been stabbed multiple times and that her unborn child had been cut from her womb and was missing.
CCTV footage shows him climbing onto the back of a motorbike driven by a woman he met two months ago as part of a local support program for pregnant women.
The driver reportedly changed his story to investigators and remains the focus of the investigation into Potosí’s tragic death.
Police are also looking for the missing child.
Potosí’s mother, Alba Gomez, called on her daughter’s killers to return her grandson, whom she named Alahia.

In an interview with local media, she said: ‘With this appeal and my hopeful belief that my baby is alive, all I want is for him to be found.
‘I ask that I search the hearts of those who have it and return it to me.’
Just hours before her abduction, Potosí had helped care for a sick relative at her sister-in-law’s home in Meléndez before her appointment.
Then he told his mother about a last-minute medical job. When her husband failed to return home, she became alarmed.

She was seen smiling next to her husband, just a few weeks before she was due to give birth.
The incident is being investigated as a potential femicide, although no arrests have been made yet.
Cali human rights ombudsman Gerardo Mendoza demanded ‘a prompt and comprehensive investigation with a gender focus’.

He added that the ‘extreme gravity’ of the crime ‘cannot go unpunished’.
Meanwhile, senator-elect Jennifer Pedraza said the following about the incident: ‘They kidnapped, tortured and killed a 21-year-old pregnant woman.
‘Nothing is happening in this country. ‘We want justice.’
Former presidential candidate Sondra Macollins said: ‘What impotence this causes. We believe that the prosecutor’s office and the police will give definitive answers.’
