Perth petrol prices drop to lowest since March as the cheapest service stations are revealed

Perth petrol fell below $1.70 a liter for the first time in more than a month, while the cost of diesel continues its steep decline, falling a further 10 cents a liter on Thursday.

The drop in cost is welcome news for drivers who have been forced to pay more than $2 per liter for unleaded fuel since the beginning of March due to the mounting effects of conflicts in the Middle East, including local panic buying and dramatic reductions in supplier allocations.

On Thursday, drivers in the Perth metro area will be charged as little as $1.69 per liter for unleaded fuel; Oakford, Beckenham and Landsdale locations are the cheapest.

ULP last fell below $1.70 on March 7, when Burk Cannington sold it for $1.57 per liter.

Diesel’s free fall continues, with the average price per liter in Perth on Thursday being $2.60 and one truck stop in Oakford selling it for as little as $2.29 per liter.

The average for unleaded fuel across Perth will be $1.87/litre, down 6.7 cents from Wednesday. Not every place will be cheap, though; Many servos in Perth continue to charge more than $2 per liter.

On Thursday, all chains will sell unleaded at a slightly cheaper price. The cheapest average will be United at $1.78 per litre, followed by Vibe at $1.81 per litre, and Reddy Express at $1.83 per litre.

Gasoline will be more expensive in regional towns; Prices in Bunbury, Busselton and Albany will average between $1.90 and $2 per liter.

In the north, from Geraldton to Port Hedland, prices hover above $2 per liter.
