Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurates 5th Assam Police Commando Battalion headquarters in Biswanath

Guwahati: As a great support for the manpower and connection of the Assam police, Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma opened the center of the 5th Assem Police Commando Battalion in Pabhoi in Biswanath.

The battalion, which spreads more than 218 Bighas, is equipped with modern facilities for an elite commando power. During a cabinet meeting on 18 July 2022, the Assam government may have decided to establish five Assam police commando battalions in Biswanath, Heilakandi, Karbi Anglong, Sivasagar and Tinsukia. Later, on December 10, the same year, Sarma threw the cornerstone of the battalion in Pabhoi in Biswnath. Within three years, the infrastructure was completed because the Prime Minister devoted this to the service of the people.

Battalion has housing accommodation for 400 Commando personnel, underground shelters for developed security, nine surveillance and magazine vaults, 256 Commando and Personnel, 256 commando and 144 settlement, training and operational infrastructure, drilling finger, relatives, more computers, more computerized installations and more computer facilities. With these facilities, Pabhoi Commando Battalion is expected to emerge as a center of excellence for commando training and operations.
Sarma, the decisive steps taken by Assam police since the dismissal of the current government government, said that the crime rate throughout the state has led to a remarkable reduction. Speaking about the development in Biswanath for the last few years, the region is one of the most inspiring buyers of the government’s vision of progress.

He also stressed that a medical faculty was established in the region, a stadium was built and new buildings were completed for the regional commissioner and circuit house. Today, the opening of the Pabhoi Commando Battalion points to another milestone. Although Biswanath is a newly created region, he managed to overcome many other regions in terms of development, and the Prime Minister said that the progress in Biswanath was really praised.


Sarma pointed out that there were very few asphalt roads in Biswanath until 2016. Today, however, all roads in the region are darkened. The roads in the tea garden lines were also built. Anganwadi centers have been renewed and new high schools are being built. The prime minister, who is looking for the cooperation of the people, reiterated the government’s commitment to leading Biswanath to a new growth horizon.
