Anthony Joshua posts update for first time since car crash

Anthony Joshua posted on social media for the first time since he was injured in a car accident. He killed two of his close friends in Nigeria.

The 36-year-old British boxer was a passenger in a Lexus SUV that collided with a stationary truck on a major highway near Lagos.

His close friends and team members Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele died in the accident. Their funerals took place at a mosque in London on Sunday.

The former two-time heavyweight champion was admitted to hospital and discharged on Wednesday before returning to England this weekend.

She posted two photos on Instagram on Sunday morning; one showed him sitting with his mother and three women, and the other held Ghami’s photo.

The post is titled: “My Brothers’ Keeper.”

The driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was charged in the Sagamu Magistrate Court on Friday. Police sources told the BBC the charges included causing death by dangerous driving.

The accused was granted bail of 5 million naira (£2,578) and remained in custody until bail conditions were met. The case was postponed to January 20.

Born in Watford, Joshua has family roots in Sagamu town in Ogun state, near the crash site.

The 2012 Olympic champion was on his way to visit relatives in town for New Year celebrations at the time of the collision, a family member told the BBC.

The boxer was spending time in Nigeria following his victory over American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on December 19.
