The world’s largest artificial intelligence summit opened to packed halls and long queues as tech giants, industry leaders, policy makers, founders and tech experts flocked to the conference venue; India will seek international agreement on expanding access to AI and global AI commons.
With huge billboards across the city welcoming delegates, speakers and guests at the AI Impact Summit, Bharat Mandapam saw long queues long before the conference opened at 9.30am, signaling interest in the topic and the conference.
Enthusiasm was high despite high-profile speakers from Alphabet’s Sundar Pichai to OpenAI’s Sam Altman to Anthropic’s Dario Amodei not even coming to the country. Sessions will not start before Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
The final two days of the summit (February 19 and 20) will see more than 20 heads of state and government, including France’s Emmanuel Macron and Brazil’s Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, as well as India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking with business leaders and investors about the future of artificial intelligence.
