I was on A Place In The Sun and one moment left me so furious I nearly stormed off set – I would NEVER do it again

A woman who appeared on Channel 4’s A Place In The Sun program told how she became so angry at one point during the program that she almost stormed out.
Karen Morrall joined her husband Mark on the series in 2021 as they searched for their perfect home in Spain with the help of show host Lee Juggurnauth.
The couple had a budget of £150,000 for their new home and went to see potential properties in Torrevieja, Costa Blanca.
However, they returned home without purchasing any of it and admitted that although they found the team to be ‘polite and welcoming’ in helping them find a property, they would not do so again.
He said some properties were a ‘waste of time’, adding that agents ‘don’t know much about the local area’ because they were broadcast on television.
Speaking about her time on the show, Karen admitted that behind the scenes wasn’t as glamorous as one might think, with ‘a lot of takes’ and a lot of waiting.

he said Express: ‘The crew had a schedule of places to take us and we couldn’t get any information about it.
‘There’s a lot going on behind the scenes. They need permission from the owners to film on properties. So, if a property is perfect for you and they can’t get permission to shoot there, they won’t show it to you.
‘We only spent one day and they made us wait in the car for a few hours because they couldn’t enter a property. ‘I was furious and almost walked away.’
It comes after a couple on A Place In The Sun refused to sign the contract after facing a nasty shock after filming wrapped.
A new episode of A Place in the Sun: What Happened Then? saw real estate expert Ben Hillman return to Punta Prima, Menorca, to visit Whitney and Rose and their Spanish home.
The couple appeared on APITS four years ago and were looking for their dream home with a budget of £90,000.
They eventually bought a two-bedroom flat in Punta Prima for £80,825 and were told at the time of purchase that they could also have the garage for an extra £8,500.
After looking at what they did with the pad, the trio explained how they bought property abroad.
Ben remarked: ‘You bought this place for about £85,000, remind me.’

DO YOU THINK shows like this paint a true picture of buying abroad?

Whitney replied: ‘Yes, with all the fees and everything else it was £85,000, including the garage it came to just over £100,000.’
Ben then wanted to know how much they had spent since then and Whitney told him: ‘We’ve probably spent about €4,500. It’s not terrible.
‘We had new boilers installed. We had to rewire because the cables were so old. ‘We had to go through it, get it certified.’
Ben asked: ‘How did you manage to find the right electrician knowing you needed certification?’
Whitney told the presenter: ‘We were really lucky because the manager we bought it from is more or less a friend of ours.
‘He treated us very well. He encouraged us to call him if there was anything we needed. And then he set this up.
‘It puts us in touch with an electrician, anyone we need. ‘He was worth his weight in gold to us.’
Although things went very well with the help of their representatives, the sale almost didn’t go through when the couple encountered a nasty shock.
Whitney explained: ‘Even when we bought this place, one of the conditions was to vacate it because there was so much stuff in the garage.
‘When we got there, there was still a lot of stuff there.
‘That’s why we said we won’t sign because we don’t know how we’re going to get through all this stuff or what the potential costs might be.

‘So she went and bought a bunch of bags and cleaned them all out herself. I think there were about three carloads.’
Ben was very impressed with the manager and said he ‘went above and beyond’.
Ben gasped ‘oh my god!’ A couple have revealed the incredible four-year transformation of their property following a series of renovations earlier this week.
TV presenter Ben returned to our screens on Tuesday to catch up with Nicola and Paul, who appeared on the Channel 4 show in November 2020 as they tried to find their dream home.
The pair were keen to find a one/two-bedroom flat near Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote, with a shared pool and its own outdoor area, and had a budget of £180,000.
They fell in love with one of the apartments Ben showed them and decided to make an offer, which the landlord accepted.
Walking towards the living area, Ben was at a loss for words and said: ‘Oh my God, seriously guys, this is incredible. This is very different.
‘I mean, I get it, it’s the same, like the layout is the same, that’s what you like, but other than that, oh my god, it’s a whole new property, isn’t it?’
