‘I was with Princess Kate in Wimbledon Royal Box – 3 words sum her up’ | Royal | News

Sitting next to Princess Kate at Wimbledon, the jazz singer revealed the three words that best describe the future Queen. Although the Princess of Wales has not yet taken part in this year’s championships, she may still be able to do so given her role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

The princess, who frequently presents trophies at tournament finals, was seated next to jazz singer Natalie Rushdie in the Royal Box at Wimbledon 2023.

Ms Rushdie recalls the first time she met Kate at a pre-tournament lunch for Royal Box guests in Hello! Magazine: “When she walked in, the whole room fell silent. She is so beautiful in real life… Calm, so elegant. She walked in and said hello to everyone.”

Ms Rushdie also spoke to Kate about the charity song released that year in honor of the late Dame Deborah James.

“I was very nervous,” he recounted. “I never get excited when meeting anyone, but she is really beautiful in real life. I went up to her and thanked her and William for their support.”

The singer added: “She’s got so much star quality about her. There’s a sparkle when she walks into the room. Everyone really looks up to her.”

According to the tournament’s official website, the Royal Box is reserved for friends and guests of Wimbledon.

This includes “British and overseas royal families, heads of government, people from the tennis world, commercial partners, the British Armed Forces, leading media organisations, tennis supporters and other sections of society”.

Although the Princess of Wales has yet to appear in the box at the south end of Center Court, a number of other famous faces have been in attendance this year.

Former England football captain Sir David Beckham, former Great British Bake Off judge Dame Mary Berry and former Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly were just some of the celebrities spotted on the first day of matches.
