Indian Medical Association supports governments GST relief on essential medicines

New Delhi [India]25 August (Memorial): Indian Medical Association (IMA), the goods and service tax (GST) Council’s decision to reduce cancer and other basic drugs GST welcomed the GST, and described health services as an important movement to make millions of patients more appropriate for millions of patients in India. The Association expressed his gratitude to the Council and the Indian Government in a press release.

IMIM also emphasized that medical equipment is an important part of health services and emphasized that it will reduce operational costs for hospitals and clinics. “This will reduce the burden on health care providers and will make treatment more appropriate for patients.”

According to release, the decision is expected to alleviate the financial burden on families struggling with life -threatening diseases such as cancer, chronic kidney disease and serious infections. “The decrease in the GST on critical drugs reflects the commitment to support the government’s public health infrastructure and to support these commitments struggling with serious medical conditions.” He said.

However, while accepting the positive step, the IMA government called on to go further. It was attractive for a full exemption of various life -saving and basic drugs. This includes treatments for anti-cancer drugs used in chemotherapy and immunotherapy, antidiabetic drugs such as insulin, as well as cardiac drugs, antihypertensives, and chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma and COPD. The Association also emphasized the need for exemption on drugs used in rare cases such as hemophilia and myelodisplastic syndromes.

Another issue brought to the agenda by the Association is the procedural obstacles encountered in securing the GST and TAN records of the state and local branches due to NOMENCATURE issues. The Council called on these concerns to facilitate the adaptation processes throughout the country.

IMIM also strongly recommended the removal of the GST in the hospital beds, and that the beds are not a luxury product, but a basic health requirement. In addition, the Association called the GST’s exemption in health insurance premiums, and that it would encourage more people to adopt health insurance and reduce financial stress on families during medical emergencies.

Repeating his appreciation, Ima said that the GST Council remained hopeful that he would evaluate these additional demands for the benefit of public health. “We would like to thank the GST Council for his sensitive and patient -centered approach.” (MOMENT)
