‘Innocent bystander’ shot dead outside Sheffield bar named as family pays tribute to ‘amazing mum’

The name of a 30-year-old “innocent man” who died after being shot outside a pub in Sheffield has been released.
Mum-of-one Shanice Brookes is described as a “wonderful mum” who “lights up every room she enters”.
Brookes was shot near the One Four One bar on West Street shortly before 2:45 a.m. Monday, according to police detectives. Police detectives said “he was just an innocent bystander.”
On Wednesday, Ms Brookes’ family released a statement saying she was living in Sheffield, working for a local charity and was in the process of completing her university degree.
His family said: “He could light up any room he entered with his infectious laugh, beautiful spirit and magical aura.

“Shanice made people feel loved, safe and valued just by being herself.
“He was truly one of a kind and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love him.”
Police confirmed on Monday that three men had been arrested on suspicion of murder following the attack.
A 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested near Stockport in Greater Manchester in the early hours of Monday morning, while the second man, 30, was arrested in Sheffield, according to police.
Assistant Chief Constable Colin McFarlane said: “This is a devastating incident in Sheffield that resulted in the death of a young woman while enjoying a night out over the bank holiday weekend.
“First and foremost, our thoughts are with his family and everyone who knew and loved him.”
He added: “Our officers are working extremely hard to piece together the events surrounding the shooting.
“Although our investigation is still in its early stages, we will continue to have a significant presence in the region today and in the coming days.
“Bank holidays are one of the busiest times of the year and we know there are people around West Street and Eldon Street who saw what happened or know who is responsible.
“If this is you, please share what you know, either directly with us or completely anonymously through Crimestoppers. “Now is not the time to remain silent.
“Gun crime causes an unbearable tragedy, and the victim and his family deserve answers.
“We will work tirelessly to provide these answers and bring those responsible to court.”
