King Charles wrote a letter to Ozzy Osbourne’s family after his death.

The Black Sabbath rocker passed away in July, aged 76, and his wife Sharon Osbourne took solace in the kind message she and the Paranoid hitmaker’s children received from the ‘amazing’ and caring monarch.

Speaking on the Osbournes podcast, the couple’s son Jack Osbourne said: ‘We got a lovely letter from the king.’

Sharon added: ‘Our King is an amazing person. He’s an amazing person, not only because he wrote to us when Ozzy died, but if he did this for us, know that he’s doing it for many, many, many people.

‘Here’s a man who knows what’s going on with people on the street. “It’s not just politics, it’s not just you know, there’s a man here who cares about the environment and animals,” he added. ‘He’s interested in many, many, many things.’

The 73-year-old family patriarch revealed that Charles had previously contacted the family in 2003, when he was still Prince of Wales, after Ozzy was seriously injured in a quad bike accident.

The rocker passed away in July at the age of 76, and his wife Sharon took solace in the kind message she and the hitman’s children received from the “amazing” and caring monarch.

He said: ‘He has a good heart. He didn’t have to do some of the things he did for Ozzy.

‘He is a kind-hearted, good and caring man.

‘We respect him, we respect his family.

‘And again he took the time to write to us, hand-deliver a note to us from the King with his condolences on Ozzy’s passing, and that says a lot.’

The King wasn’t the only high-profile person to contact the family after Ozzy’s death, as Sharon, Jack and daughter Kelly Osbourne also shared a voicemail they received from US President Donald Trump.

In his message, the President said: ‘Hi Sharon, I’m Donald Trump and I wanted to wish you the best.

‘Ozzy was amazing. He was a great man. I have met him several times and I want to tell you that he is unique and talented in every way. So I wanted to wish you the best, and that’s a tough thing. I know how close you are and what I can do. Take care of yourself. Say hello to the family.’

Jack said after the clip was played: ‘Love him or hate him, he didn’t need to call and leave a voicemail.’

Sharon, who placed third on Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice in 2010, praised the President and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump.

He said: ‘All I know is a guy I know, who I worked with for a month. I spent a month with him and his wife, who was always kind, gracious, and a pleasure to talk to.

‘And he would always say: “How are the kids? How is Kelly? I’m so proud of Kelly and Jack for what they’ve done and their attitude has been great.” ‘He was a great guy to talk to and always treated me with respect.’

Sharon stated that offering praise to Trump would be divisive.

He said: ‘Listen, I’m not American. I can’t vote. I don’t want to vote. I don’t vote for anyone. I don’t vote for anyone. I never have, I never will.

‘But the thing is, all I know is that he treats me with respect, and your father too. He didn’t ask anything from us. Nothing. Melania – the same. Nothing. And they were great.”

Ozzy was thought to have developed a warm bond with monarch King Charles over the years.

The couple, who were born just weeks apart in 1948, were photographed laughing at a reception for supporters of The Prince’s Trust’s 30th birthday concert at Clarence House in London in 2006.

Ozzy performed at the charity’s milestone event at the Tower of London alongside other artists including Lionel Richie and Annie Lennox.

However, this fun-filled conversation was not the first known interaction between the two; The King sent the Birmingham native a get-well gift after his ATV accident in 2003.

He sent the singer, a recovering alcoholic, a bottle of whiskey – and his wife, Sharon, later revealed in 2004 that although the gesture was much appreciated, it was not the rocker who enjoyed the drink.

He added: ‘He actually sent me a bottle of whiskey when I had a cycling accident… I wish him the best.’

In 2004, Sharon revealed the King’s royal gift to Ozzy on a pre-recorded edition of the then American TV chat show.

He told his audience: ‘We’ve heard from Prince Charles and don’t let anyone say he’s the bad guy because there’s nothing wrong with the Osbournes.

‘She sent my husband a bottle of whiskey, of course he won’t drink it,’ she said.

In 2002, the Black Sabbath star was an unlikely part of the star-studded line-up at the Queen’s late Golden Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace, where he performed one of the band’s most famous songs, Paranoid.

Ozzy, who reportedly once counted Princes William and Harry as fans, was shocked by the invitation.

The singer was jokingly referencing some of his most infamous moments, including biting the head off a stick thrown onstage during his solo performance. He later claimed he thought it was made of rubber.

Sharon said of the King: ‘He has a good heart. He didn’t have to do some of the things he did for Ozzy. ‘He is a good-hearted, kind-hearted, caring man.’

Another moment saw him urinating on the precious Alamo Cenotaph in Texas; it was an action that led to him being banned from San Antonio for ten years.

Despite his heritage and connection to the royal family, Ozzy was never knighted, but it wasn’t because his fans didn’t try hard enough.

After battling Parkinson’s Disease for six years, Ozzy died just weeks after Black Sabbath played their final show together in their hometown.

The rocker reunited with his original bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for the first time since 2005, bidding an emotional farewell to decades of performing live on stage.
