Items found near Israeli embassy in UK ‘non-hazardous’

British police said they found no hazardous materials in items found near the Israeli embassy in London and reopened Kensington Gardens after investigating an online claim that the site had been targeted by drones.

The group Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia (Movement of the Right Hand Companions of Islam) had shared a video that included two figures in protective clothing, as well as footage of drones, and a message that the Israeli embassy in London was targeted.

A commander of the counter-terrorism police in London said: “Although the Israeli Embassy was not attacked, we continue to work closely with the Embassy and security team to keep the area safe and secure.”

Police are investigating whether the items, including two jars containing powdered substances, are linked to the video.

Due to the incident, police presence was increased and cordons were put in place, closing off public access to nearby Kensington Gardens and the surrounding area.

“Although the items found are considered non-hazardous, we are continuing to investigate whether they have any connection to the online video,” police said.
