Jewish man in hospital after attack by group of men in Golders Green | London

A Jewish man who was attacked by a group of men in north London is being treated in hospital for wounds on his face and body.

Police were called in the early hours of Monday morning following reports that a Jewish man had been attacked by several men outside a property in The Grove, Golders Green.

A man in his 20s is understood to have walked outside a flat to make a phone call before being attacked and beaten in the street. According to reports.

Police said the attack was being treated as an anti-Semitic hate crime but no arrests had yet been made.

Golders Green, in north-west London, is home to one of the largest and most prominent Jewish communities in the UK and Europe, and has suffered a number of attacks in the past few months, including an arson attack on ambulances run by a Jewish charity and a knife attack in which two Jewish men were injured.

Sarah Sackman, MP for Finchley and Golders Green, said: “Reports of an attack on a Jewish constituent in Golders Green last night are unacceptable. “I understand the police are investigating this as a hate crime and I raised the issue at a meeting with Met Police Commissioner Mark Rowley today.

“Recent antisemitic attacks and terrorism have struck fear into the hearts of our community, and I am pushing for further action at every level.”

A Met police spokesman said: “Police were called at 2.05am on Monday, May 18, following reports that a Jewish man had been attacked by a number of men outside a property in Grove, NW11.

“Officers responded within six minutes and later spoke to the victim, a man in his 20s, who suffered injuries to his face and back.

“No arrests have been made at this stage and the police investigation is ongoing.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 542/18MAY.”
