UFC great Jim Miller made an emotional return to the Octagon on Saturday night, where he earned a submission victory over Jared Gordon.
Miller’s son, Wyatt, was diagnosed with a rare soft tissue cancer known as rhabdomyosarcoma last year. New York Post. He hadn’t fought in the UFC in over a year because he was flanked by his 14-year-old son for the fight. Wyatt recovered and Miller paid tribute to him following the victory.

“My son has had a really tough time the last few months,” he said at UFC 328 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. “He was finally cancer free and is completely fine today.
“We survived cancer. And one of the things I told him when he was first diagnosed and dealing with this disease was that Miller has been called many things over the years, but frailty has never been one of them.”

Miller won the match in front of his home fans. Miller was born in Sparta, sitting on the edge of Lake Mohawk and about 40 miles from where UFC 328 took place.
The lightweight bout ended with Miller guillotine-choking Gordon in the first round. After Miller tried to kick him, Gordon went to tackle him. However, Gordon kept his head down, which allowed Miller to wrap his arms around his opponent and strangle him.
Miller has 28 wins in the UFC; this is the most wins of any competitor in the company’s history.

It was Gordon’s first consecutive defeat since losing to Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC Fight Night in February 2018 and Joaquim Silva at UFC on FOX in December 2018.
