John Stones to leave Manchester City this summer

“It’s been a roller-coaster ride in many ways. I came as a kid and now I’m leaving as a man, a father, a husband and a very fulfilled player on the field.

“I have achieved all my dreams and overcome everything I came here to get here.

“I never thought I’d be in this position at the beginning of my career here. First, achieving anything but loving and connecting with everyone. Every dream has been shattered.”

Stones became Pep Guardiola’s second signing to City and became the second most expensive defender in the world at the time.

“I don’t think it would have been as successful without him,” Stones said.

“I’m so grateful that I was able to spend so much time with him, to achieve everything with him. I feel lucky and grateful for what he did for me.”
