Kadapa court sentences 20 years imprisonment to accused in POCSO case

A man found guilty of attempting to rape an underage girl was sentenced to twenty years of Rigorous Imprisonment along with a fine of ₹5,000. The court also directed the State government to pay ₹10.50 lakh as compensation to the victim.

District POCSO Court judge T. Keshava convicted Palla Venkata Vidya Kiran, 35, of Meerapuram village of Kamalapuram mandal, on charges of rape and sexual assault of a minor under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
