Kazipet-Kacheguda Trains Get Shorter Route As SCR Checks Sitaphalmandi-Lallaguda Chord Line

Hyderabad: South Central Railway on Wednesday inspected the newly launched Sitaphalmandi-Lallaguda chord line in Hyderabad, aiming to improve connectivity and reduce travel time.

The inspection was led by general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, who carried out the division’s tram inspection by reviewing signaling systems, points and crossings along the route.

The newly laid line connects the Secunderabad-Kazipet main line with the Secunderabad-Dhone line, bypassing Secunderabad station. The 3 km line allows trains from Kazipet to reach Kacheguda directly via Lallaguda, reducing the distance by around 12 km and travel time by around 20 minutes.

The project includes five small bridges and a major under-road bridge at Alugadda Baavi, officials said. An automatic signaling system has been installed in the cutting.

Earlier, trains from Kazipet to Kacheguda via Secunderabad had to pass through Moula-Ali and Malkajgiri, covering a longer route of around 15 km. The new regulation is expected to ease congestion and improve operational efficiency.

The chord line originates from Lallaguda, passes through Sitaphalmandi ‘A’ and ‘B’ booths and converges at Sitaphalmandi station.

During the visit, the General Manager also inspected the circulation area, cleanliness, waiting hall, ticket counters, platforms and passenger facilities at Sitaphalmandi station. He examined the Station Master’s office, signaling systems and security equipment at the station.
