Key accused in spurious liquor racket in A.P. picked up at Gannavaram airport

Prohibition and Excise (P&E) officials investigating the fake liquor racket on Friday reportedly detained Addepalli Janardhana Rao, who is facing charges of manufacturing fake liquor, at Mukalacheruvu in Annamayya district.
He allegedly supplied stocks of fake liquor to Ibrahimpatnam in Vijayawada, where it was bottled at a bar and restaurant run by Janardhana Rao and his brother Addepalli Jaganmohan Rao.
Authorities raided ANR Bar and Restaurant in Ibrahimpatnam in NTR district a few days ago and seized a large quantity of alcoholic beverages, unlabeled liquor bottles, empty bottles, stickers of various liquor brands.
Excise police arrested Jaganmohan Rao and two others – Badal Dasu and Pradeep Dasu and produced them in court. Janardhana Rao has been named as an accused in the Mulakalacheruvu fake liquor racket.
Acting on a tip-off that Janardhan Rao was returning to India from South Africa, tax officials collected him at Gannavaram airport on Friday evening.
“We are interrogating Janardhana Rao. The case is being investigated from all angles,” said an officer associated with the investigation.
