King Charles issues clear message to Donald Trump | Royal | News

King Charles issued a statement to congratulate President Donald Trump and the American people on the United States’ celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. In a new message posted on the Royal Family’s social media channels, Her Majesty told the US President: “Through centuries of common struggle and achievement, our nations have built a relationship built on friendship, trust and belief in freedom, the rule of law and the dignity of all people.
“As we look to the next 250 years, I have no doubt that we will continue to defend our common values. I believe that the bond between our people will grow stronger over time.” The King signed the letter “Charles R”; R stood for Rex and Latin stood for King.
This follows the King’s historic state visit to the United States earlier this year.
Charles and Queen Camilla traveled across the pond from 27 April to 30 April before Her Majesty traveled alone to Bermuda.
During US state visits, the King and Queen were treated with appropriate pomp and pageantry by their American hosts; Mr Trump hailed the trip as a “tremendous privilege”.
While the royal couple celebrated America’s Independence, Charles and Camilla also visited the September 11 memorial in New York City.
Charles also delivered a moving speech to Congress touching on bilateral relations between Britain and the United States.
The King’s speech was met with rapturous applause and a standing ovation as he spoke of the heart of the relationship between the UK and the US as “a story of reconciliation, renewal and remarkable partnership”.
