Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri Said That ‘Normalization With Israel Is Out Of The Question’ | World News

Berri told Lebanon’s Sharq al-Awsat newspaper that all relevant parties, including Lebanon, Israel, the United States, France and the UN, should be included in indirect talks, Xinhua news agency reported.
“There is no harm in including civilian experts in the process when necessary, as was done in consultation with geology and mapping experts when drawing the boundaries of the Blue Line in 2000,” he said.
“All Israeli threats and air strikes will not change our stance on this issue,” he added.

The ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel has been in effect since November 27, 2024. Still, the Israeli army continues to launch sporadic attacks into Lebanon, saying its operations are against Hezbollah’s “threats” and maintains forces in five main positions along the Lebanese border.
Three Israeli airstrikes targeted three vehicles in eastern and southern Lebanon on Saturday, killing three people and wounding 11 others, the official National News Agency reported.
Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny said on Saturday that Lebanon has put post-war reconstruction at the top of its agenda, even though ongoing Israeli attacks have slowed recovery efforts.
“Reconstruction is the top priority for the government and the presidency,” Rasamny said, according to the official National News Agency, adding that fieldwork had been repeatedly interrupted by Israeli attacks.
Rasamny stated that the government has completed detailed assessments of infrastructure damage and developed a clear reconstruction vision, noting that the total loss from the last war could exceed $11 billion. Lebanon is waiting for a $250 million loan from the World Bank to begin the rehabilitation of important facilities. “This amount is not enough, but it provides a starting point for the rebuilding process,” he added.
