Lidl makes huge change at tills of 37 UK stores – full list | UK | News

Following a seven-store pilot, Lidl will expand its self-scanning trial to a further 37 stores in the UK. The phased rollout will be available to shoppers in Scotland, the South East and the south of England throughout July.
Integrated into the Lidl Plus app, Lidl & Go allows customers to scan products while shopping, track their spending and savings in real-time, and complete purchases at checkout. This feature can be used directly via customers’ own smartphones, without the need for special in-store scanning devices.
Lidl said feedback from the first trial showed customers shopping with children and those looking for “more flexibility” were particularly interested.
Louise Weise, chief customer officer at Lidl GB, said: “The early response to the first phase of Lidl & Go has been really encouraging.
“Customers tell us they value the control and visibility it gives them over their spending and the flexibility to shop at their own pace.
“This next wave of stores is rolling out this feature to many more customers, and we will continue to take feedback to improve the offering as we move forward.”
Lidl said the expansion is part of its digital investment, which aims to make shopping easier, more convenient and more flexible for customers, while also ensuring traditional payment methods and staffed tills remain available in its stores.
