L&T awarded order by Indian Army to upgrade Pinaka rocket launcher systems

This partnership between an indigenous private OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and the Indian Army for the maintenance of frontline artillery systems is “an important step towards product life cycle support of Made in India, in-service Artillery systems.”
The program will focus on managing legacy components, upgrading critical subsystems, and providing ongoing technical support to Army Base Workshops. This partnership will also strengthen the Public Private Partnership model in defense sustainment and life cycle support of frontline artillery systems.
Under this initiative, the 510 Army Base Workshop (ABW) EME will undertake the overhaul and upgrade of critical electronics and systems using the extensive domain knowledge inherent in the Army Base Workshop. As OEM, L&T will supply critical spare parts and support modernization of subsystems, enabling the transition from traditional maintenance practices to a structured, lifecycle-based maintenance and upgrade framework.
In the first phase, L&T will jointly undertake the pilot overhaul of the Pinaka Launcher and Battery Command Center in collaboration with 510 ABW. After successful completion of the pilot phase, the remaining systems will be overhauled by Corps of EME’s 510 ABW and L&T will continue to provide critical spare parts, technical support and quality inspection.
