Malappuram elders’ grand tour creates memories, breaks records

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, he was engraved in the memories of more than 3,000 old souls from Malappuram Municipality as he went on an unforgettable journey to Wayanad.

Thanks to a pioneering and bold initiative of Malappuram Municipality, Mega Gezi demanded the title of the largest elderly trip in the world.

3,180 elderly, which covers 60 to 104 years from the 40 wards of the municipality, merged for this historical adventure. Most of them said that they did not experience such a bonhomi and joy in the last memories.

The municipality, which organizes a logistics miracle, challenged traditional travel norms by deploying 83 luxury coaches with additional backups in Thamarasserry and Konutta.

Six wide auditoriums were provided to host breakfast, lunch and dinner. A private medical experts of doctors, nurses and pharmacists accompanied the environment with five ambulances and provided a safe and cheerful experience for everyone.

“This big tour is only more than visiting Wayanad. It is a proof of our love and support for our elderly people. Of course, we want to guarantee that they have a valuable place in our hearts. We also want to guarantee that we will always stand by them.”

The excitement of the day at Kottakkunnu, which is the warm point of the natural desktop tourist in Malappuram town, marked the picnic at 6.30 in the morning

Shortly thereafter, 3.180 umbrellas, which were presented by the municipality, turned into a yellow and green caleydoscope and created a breathtaking show that satisfied the photographers who caught the stunning drone images of the color screen.

Regiment left 83 buses carrying Malappuram elderly passengers. Many had a first trip experience. Karthyayini, probably in his 80s, “This is my first trip,” he smiled.

People welcomed the trip by taking flowers shower on buses at various points of the route. Churam Samrakshana Samiti, a special volunteer group focusing on protecting the Wayanad Ghat Road, gave a help hand to minimize traffic congestion. Through social media, they asked Malaappuram to avoid visiting Wayanad on Tuesday to provide a smooth journey.

320 volunteers participated in the trip and provided guidance and support to the elderly. The group discovered Pookode Lake and Karapuzha Dam in separate groups and returned to Wayad Hills in the evening.

Representatives from the Universal Records Forum (URF) participated in the trip to confirm and document the event aimed at confirming a world record for the largest elderly.

“This is really a record, but more importantly, the emotional connection-relevant experience is a heating experience for everyone,” Fate said.

The municipal spent 40 lakh for the trip and combined plan funds with additional sponsors to enable the event.
