Man, 21, fighting for life after alleged assault at Logan short-stay party leaves car destroyed, home damaged
A man is fighting for his life after an alleged attack on a short-stay property in Logan descended into chaos, damaging a house, damaging several cars and locking down an entire street for much of Sunday.
Emergency crews were called to Discovery Blvd in Bahrs Scrub at 2.16am on Sunday following reports of what police described as a “large disturbance involving a group of people”.
When officers arrived, the incident was stretching across the street.
Police said in a statement that they arrived at the scene within eight minutes and discovered “significant damage to some vehicles on the street and to a residence.”
While the property is believed to have been used as short-term accommodation, nearby residents say a party was being held before the violence broke out.
As the scene emerged, police said some of those involved dispersed.
“As members of the group fled the scene, officers were alerted that a 21-year-old Redbank Plains man was found nearby in Orchard Ave with serious head injuries,” the statement said.
The injured man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition and remained there on Sunday night.
Residents reported seeing disorder spread across the property, with some stating they believed two groups were involved.
Neighbors also described people shouting before leaving the area on foot and in damaged vehicles.
Footage from CCTV shows a man running away from the scene down the street at around 2.47am.
Police and coroners remained on Discovery Blvd until Sunday to inspect damage and gather evidence.
The windows of many vehicles were broken and dents were formed, and the windows of a nearby house were also broken.
Neighbors said they thought the front of the house was badly damaged and the interior had been ransacked.
SES teams also searched the surrounding parking area as part of the ongoing investigation.
