Man charged with arson, domestic violence after three houses destroyed
A man has been charged with arson after three homes were destroyed by fire in Clontarf on Saturday afternoon.
The 36-year-old man is alleged to have set fire to a house on Weaber Street using an accelerant at 1.50pm before fleeing.
The fire spread to two neighboring houses, destroying them, Nine News reported.
Police declared an exclusion zone around the fire for public safety at 2.10pm, urging people to stay inside with windows closed.
The area included Watson Street, Isobel and Enoch streets, Gerald Street, Wendy Crescent, Bright Street and Cornelius Street.
The emergency declaration was canceled at 16:19.
The man was later located by the police dog team and officers confirmed no-one was injured in the alleged incident.
