Man City 2-1 Arsenal: Are Pep Guardiola’s side now favourites for title?

The momentum is now firmly in City’s favour; They have lost just once in their last 20 league games, while Arsenal are starting to weaken having won just one of their last six games in all competitions.

The odds remain largely in Arsenal’s favor, according to statistician Opta, but their chances have fallen from 97% to 73% in the space of a week, while City’s chances of winning the title have jumped from 3% to 27%.

City have won the Premier League four times since Arteta took charge of Arsenal in 2019, but Arsenal have held the top spot for the longest time with 537 days to City’s 453 days.

Arteta said: “We have full confidence that we can do this. Today we showed once again that we are a team. It’s in our hands and it’s there for the taking.”

The Spaniard added on BBC Radio 5 Live: “We lost an opportunity in terms of results. “They’ve got a game in hand, we’ve got three points.

“The game is on because this is a new Premier League.”
