Man City strike £116MILLION breakthrough for Elliot Anderson: England star set for medical in the United States while on World Cup duty as Nottingham Forest man nears mega-money move
Manchester City have agreed a £116 million deal with Nottingham Forest to make Elliot Anderson the first signing of the post-Pep Guardiola era.
The England midfielder is currently in the United States for the World Cup and will undergo a medical in the coming days with the expectation that he will become a City player.
Anderson has a slight glute concern ahead of England’s clash with Panama on Saturday, but this is not thought to be serious and no scans are required.
City were thought to have agreed an initial fee of £106 million with Forest last week, while Daily Mail Sport reported earlier this month that Evangelos Marinakis was seeking a British record fee of £130 million after add-ons.
Talks between the two clubs over the last few days focused on the content of the add-ons and the time frame in which they will be paid.
But following progress in talks, City sources insist the Anderson deal is a one-off payment and play down the idea that it dwarfs the £125m Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak.

However, Anderson will become the most expensive English footballer of all time, overtaking Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham. The 23-year-old has made it clear that City is his preferred destination, with his personal terms already agreed.
England’s coach Thomas Tuchel has already said that he will facilitate the summer transfers of the players in his squad and that arrangements will be made for Anderson. Personal circumstances will not be a problem.
Anderson’s focus is on England and the World Cup and those involved are comfortable with the timing of completing the move.
There are no sales conditions for Newcastle, who sold Anderson to Forest for £35 million in 2024, as they struggled to avoid breaching PSR rules.
