Tom Phillips: Fugitive father shot dead after store burglary and police gunfight in Waikato, New Zealand

After about four years, a father hiding with his three children in the distant bushes of New Zealand was hit by the police during a unsuccessful attempt.
In September 2021, Tom Phillips disappeared to the rugged Waikbeli Wilderess with his children with his children after a dispute reported with their mothers.
Two weeks later, although briefly reappeared, Phillips and children hid until December that year.
It was believed that Phillips had dealt with a series of thefts in the King country region of the northern island of New Zealand.
Last month, CCTV images showed two figures that were thought to be one of Phillips and Children, and Piopio is entering a small business in Western Waikato, Thing.
Early in the early hours of Monday, around 2.30 hours, Phillips and a child, the police deployed the road pointed ends that stopped them suddenly, after raving a local business in Piopio, they were driving a four -bike.

When the bike stopped, there was a conflict where an officer was hit by Phillips.
After the backup arrived, the police returned to Phillips, who were deadly injured. The child was detained and cooperates with the authorities.
Rogers was given first aid immediately to Phillips, but died at the scene.
A large police call for the remaining two children.

Children’s mother, Cat, expressed mixed feelings after the incident.

The officer was hospitalized and remained in serious condition.

Phillips was detected several times when he was at the center of a large police call.

It was seen in August 2023 at Bunnings in Rapa, and in September 2024, the family was seen by a group of pig hunters in Marakopa Bushland.
