Meghan Markle ‘upset’ after MasterChef judges call her royalty | Royal | News

Meghan Markle was reportedly left unhappy following a comment made by one of the judges during her upcoming appearance as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia. The Duchess of Sussex has been officially confirmed to take part in the TV cooking competition after filming a guest spot while visiting Australia with husband Prince Harry in April.
First images from the episode have also been released, showing Meghan alongside host Poh Ling Yeow and fellow judges Jean-Christophe Novelli and Sofia Levin. During the episode, Poh welcomed the Duchess with the following words: “We’ve had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before, but nothing like this.”
However, according to Sky News Australia, this statement was reportedly not welcomed by Meghan. Sky News Lifestyle Reporter Chloe Walker claimed Meghan and her team were left disappointed after the judges called her “royalty”.
Speaking to Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power, Walker said: “Apparently Meghan and her team were a bit upset and frustrated that the MasterChef judges were referring to her as Royalty. I’m not sure why they would be frustrated.”
The Duchess of Sussex’s appearance as a guest judge on Ten’s (also known as Network 10 or Channel 10) popular cooking series will reportedly air on Sunday, July 26 at 7pm local time.
“What drew me to the cuisine of MasterChef Australia? Two things: my love of food and my love of Australia. It was an easy yes,” Meghan said in a statement released by Ten.
“This is a great show. I’m truly honored to be asked to be here with you and review some of these dishes.”
On the show, Meghan will ask contestants to create a dish that includes a seasonal ingredient and a personal story behind it.
Available ingredients will include carrots, yams, Brussels sprouts, celery, Australian honey, macadamia nuts, quince, lemon and apple, tangerines and strawberries.
In a post on Instagram announcing Meghan’s entry, the broadcaster said: “The countdown is on! Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, joins the #MasterChefAU kitchen as a guest judge, bringing her love of food, fun and seasonal produce to one of the competition’s most memorable challenges. Tune in on @channel10au on Sunday 26 July at 7pm.”
