Megyn Kelly Fumes Over Charlie Kirk Not Being Named Time’s Person of the Year: ‘A Thumb in the Eye’

Megyn Kelly can’t believe Charlie Kirk wasn’t named Time magazine’s Person of the Year.

On Thursday’s episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the host took umbrage with the fact that the 2025 Person of the Year is not a single person, but the architects of artificial intelligence. He opposed the decision to not grant Kirk the posthumous privilege following his assassination in September.

“This is fucking AI. These are AI architects,” Kelly said. “He’s not Charlie Kirk, that’s obvious; it’s as obvious as the nose on your face. And to those who insult me, don’t say, ‘Oh, he was so controversial.’ That’s not it. They’ve gone for extremely controversial people and bad guys in the past. That always and often comes down to people like Ayatollah Vladimir Putin. We’ve had very controversial people who have achieved that, or nearly achieved that. And Charlie wasn’t chosen, he wasn’t even an honorable mention. Yes, Putin won that in 2007.”

He added: “This is glaring and really wrong. AI architects, for example, are not the most influential people of the year. To ignore what happened to Charlie Kirk in September and the resurgence of faith around the world following his assassination is to ignore the reality based on your own politics.”

Kirk was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10. Tyler Robinson was later accused of assassinating the founder of Turning Point USA. Kirk is survived by his wife Erika and two children.

In addition to artificial intelligence architects, Person of the Year candidates include President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani and America’s first pope, Pope Benedict XIV. Leo was there too.
