MET issues advisory for continuous rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir amid sharp rise in water levels

Continuous rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir triggered the flash floods in some parts of the Jammu region, led to a sharp increase in several rivers and rivers water levels.

Previously, seven people were killed and 11 people were injured in a cloud explosion that hit the Kathua area in Jammu & Kashmir on 17 August. Ani Tufan triggered great landslides and floods, and damaged the loss of tragic life and infrastructure. In response to urgently, with an engineer detachment, Army aid columns immediately moved to the worst affected areas of Jhor Khad and Bagra villages.
On August 14, a cloud explosion during Machail Mat Yatra led to flash floods that killed at least 55 people in Kishtwar. After the incident, Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Omar Abdullah said that everyone who survived on August 19 could be impossible to find. He said the disaster was due to a cloud explosion instead of a violation of the glacier lakes.
