The administration in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district has deployed 12 investigation teams and set up two temporary hospitals to treat residents who fell ill due to water pollution in Mhow, officials said on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

According to the management, at least 12 cases of suspected stomach infection patients were detected in Mhow’s Patti Bazaar area on Friday, January 23. However, local people claimed that about 24 people in the neighborhood fell ill after allegedly consuming dirty water.

The administration is taking proactive measures as the latest cases follow the deaths of seven people due to water pollution in Indore city’s Bhagirathpura area last month.

In its statement, the administration stated that 12 teams were deployed in Patti Bazaar on Friday on the instructions of Collector Shivam Verma and conducted surveys in more than 80 households.

It was stated that two temporary hospitals were established in the affected area, which has a population of approximately 2,500.

At least 12 suspected patients have been identified and their treatment continues. 2 of the 8 injured people who were treated at the hospital recovered and were discharged.

Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Madhav Prasad Hasani said blood and water samples were collected for testing at Patti Bazaar area.

The statement stated that the administration also assigned local pediatricians and two other pediatric specialists in the affected area.

Announcement systems are used to inform citizens about precautions such as drinking boiled water and not bringing food from outside. He added that the administration also distributed ORS, glucose, zinc and chlorine tablets to the affected area.

Several people fell ill last month and seven deaths due to water pollution were reported in Bhagirathpura district.

While residents claimed that the epidemic has claimed 25 lives so far, a situation report submitted by the Madhya Pradesh government to the Supreme Court on January 15 mentioned seven deaths, including a five-month-old boy.
