Moment Good Samaritans save British tourist from drowning in Spain’s celeb Puerto Banus marina
Good Samaritans in Spain saved the life of a British tourist who nearly drowned in a marina over the weekend.
Two security personnel took the man out of the water on a boat at Marbella’s Puerto Banus marina after he became ill, lost his balance and fell into the water.
In the video, the man is seen lying on his back near the water’s edge, trying to hear his rescuers tell him to turn forward, and when he does, he shouts, “I’m so strong.”
His two rescuers crouched at the stern of a yacht called ‘Satisfaction’ docked at the marina near the News Cafe nightclub where they worked, and eventually pulled the Briton out of the water.
‘You guys are terrible,’ one viewer was heard saying in the video, adding: ‘They’re making it so hard to get out of here.’
He then asked: ‘Did he stumble, what happened?’
Another voice replied: ‘I don’t know, I just heard the noise and splashing.’
The first man told security staff trying to save the fallen Brit: ‘You’ll struggle to lift him, he’s a big boy.’
A British tourist could be seen on his back in the water at a Spanish marina after reportedly falling because he went out feeling sick.
Two security guards from the nearby News Cafe nightclub crouched down on a yacht called Satisfaction and helped the man out.
They eventually managed to pull him onto the deck of the yacht while spectators watched.
The man was lying motionless on the deck of the boat when he was pulled from the water and two security guards shook hands.
Another viewer later said: ‘He would have been dead in an hour.’
After some trouble the man in the water turned over on his stomach and was told ‘you need to be strong’ and he replied: ‘Yes, I am very strong.’
As he was being taken to the yacht, a voice from the marina shouted: ‘Well done guys, good job there.’
After being rescued, the man lay motionless on the deck as his rescuers shook hands and one of them said: ‘He almost died there.’
The other turned the rescued man onto his side while waiting for an ambulance.
The images published in a Marbella-based social media group included the following title: ‘My friend heard a very strange sound among the boats last night. He came closer and saw a drowning man among the boats.
‘He went to vomit and fell into the water. ‘Thanks to the quick intervention of the security guards at the Haber Cafe, the man was rescued.’
One rescuer responded to online tributes by saying: ‘Thank you so much. It’s something I’ll never forget.”
A philanthropist, referring to the name of the boat, said: ‘This man was very lucky. Thank you for saving him. ‘He’ll feel like the name of the boat.’
Another said: ‘The name of the boat says it all, satisfaction.’
