It’s been almost five years since the Royal Family laid to rest the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The funeral, which took place on 17 April 2021, was held at St. Paul’s Church at Windsor Castle due to COVID-19 restrictions. It was a smaller, ceremonial royal funeral held in St. George’s Chapel.

The ceremony also marked the first time Prince Harry returned to the United Kingdom following his and wife Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview and was reunited with his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth.

Despite apparent rifts within the firm, a body language expert revealed Kate stepped in to support the family and underline togetherness during this devastating event.

When one leader leaves the group, another must “step forward quickly and help fill the void,” Judi James said.

he said Daily Mail: “In the Royal Family, the order of hierarchy is determined by the order of succession, but like other families they have a more natural order of power as well as the consecrated, titled one.

“Even though Philip married the Firm, he became a strong, fatherly alpha presence, and his death created a leadership vacuum.

“The Queen was in deep mourning, and an equally distraught Charles appeared to watch helplessly as his two sons embarked on a civil war that threatened to tear the entire Royal Family apart.

“But at Philip’s funeral, Kate’s body language and behavior suddenly, quietly but dramatically changed, indicating a groundbreaking trend.”

The expert also explained that Kate had the “determination and courage” to stand up amid the sadness, offering “a comforting and supportive hug to a sobbing Charles before setting off to herd William and Harry alone, like a royal sheepdog herding two anxious and uncertain sheep.”

Ms James also highlighted signs of “acute awkwardness and anxiety” in both William and Harry; He said this was the exact opposite of Kate’s attitude throughout the event, creating a kind of unity between the siblings who seemed distant from each other.

The Princess of Wales left her husband to walk ahead while she used “some friendly words to guide him firmly to William’s side.”

Ms James added that the pair would have drifted apart “if Kate had not intervened and taken responsibility” and that this particular move “probably would have pleased and amused the late grandfather of the two princes”.
