Moment Monaco bomber strikes: Ukraine releases new footage of assassination attempt on oligarch that blew off his partner’s legs and wounded their son

This is the moment a Ukrainian oligarch and his family were blown up in a bomb attack outside a luxury apartment in Monaco.

New footage released today by the Ukrainian prosecutor general shows the June 29 assassination attempt on real estate tycoon Vadym Yermolaiev, his mistress Anna Nasobina and their 13-year-old son.

The attacker, believed to be Ukrainian Anastasiia Berezovska, is seen walking in front of the family approaching the Sun Palace apartment.

A few seconds before the family entered the door, a bomb filled with bolts and nuts was left in a backpack at the entrance of the building.

The suspect, who fits Berezovska’s description, then calmly walks away and appears to be talking on the phone while a large explosion occurs behind him.

Following the explosion, 46-year-old Nasobina’s legs were amputated, while both she and Yermolaiev suffered serious shrapnel wounds and burns. His sons were also injured.

Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko claimed that the video was recorded by the “perpetrators” on a security camera placed near the scene of the crime.

He added that the assassin tried to delete the footage, but expert investigators managed to recover it.

He said: ‘Urgent investigative and procedural activities are actively continuing to obtain new evidence in a case of attempted murder in the Principality of Monaco.

‘Thanks to the professional work of experts of the Ukrainian Security Service, one of the most important evidence that the suspects tried to destroy was successfully recovered.

‘This includes video footage from a security camera that the perpetrators had previously placed near the scene to gain approval for the order.

‘Despite the fact that this evidence was deleted, SBU experts managed to restore it.’

Interpol described the 39-year-old as ‘armed and dangerous’ and identified Ukrainian citizen Berezovska as the main suspect in the bomb package.

Footage from nearby security cameras showed the woman wearing a black hat and fleeing on foot towards France across the border, where there were no checkpoints.

Investigators believe the woman went to the town of Beausoleil and then traveled to Italy.

Berezovska was found dead near Kyiv on July 6. Investigators said he was shot.

However, he did not provide evidence for the claim.

Vladyslav Reut, Hur’s current officer, was charged with murder and appeared in court last week along with co-defendant Vitalii Zhykovych.

Zhykovych until recently worked in Kiev’s SBU security service.

Both men denied wrongdoing.

Although Reut initially confessed to killing Berezovska, he later retracted his confession and blamed Zhykovych, whose lawyer denied the claim.

Yermolaiev today accused Kiev’s military intelligence agency of being responsible for the attack.

In a statement released by his lawyers, Yermolaiev said, “Based on the investigative evidence we have, we have no doubt that officers of the main intelligence directorate of the Ukrainian defense ministry (commonly known as Hur) were directly involved in this assassination attempt.”

Now Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy will face questions from Western allies over the alleged role of a serving Hur officer in the killing of the prime suspect in the Monaco bombing.

Real estate developer Yermolaiev, whom Forbes magazine named the 39th richest Ukrainian in 2020, has a fortune of US$ 230 million (GBP 172 million).

Kiev has been imposing sanctions on him since 2023 for his interest in wine and alcohol in Russian-occupied Crimea.

He described how Nasobina suffered ‘catastrophic and irreversible injuries’ while her sons suffered burns, fractures and other serious injuries.

‘I remain in intensive care and am only now beginning the long recovery process,’ he added.

‘This wasn’t a warning. ‘This was an attempt to kill not only me but also my family.’

The explosion was so powerful it shattered the steel railings and destroyed the stone steps outside their property.

Hur’s spokesman Andriy Yusov rejected Yermolaiev’s claims, saying they were “subjective political statements” and would harm the investigation into the bombing.
