Municipality opens fully air-conditioned govt. LP school in Malappuram

Newly opened Government LP school in Malappuram
A century-old primary school (LP) school, which was scheduled to be closed after the disabled engineering department rejected its suitability for the building, has been revived by the Malappuram Municipal Corporation, creating a historic transformation.
Students of GMLP School in Muttippady, Melmuri can now enjoy fully air-conditioned classrooms. The municipality built a new school building on the purchased land and equipped it with modern facilities such as digital classrooms.
There are purified water kiosks, security cameras, integrated public address system and child-friendly fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) benches and tables on each floor of the three-storey building.
The staff room and manager’s office have a sleek, professional aesthetic reminiscent of a high-end office. 22 two-ton split air conditioners installed in the school work with solar panels mounted on the terrace. The school’s ocher and green color scheme is designed to spark the imagination of young students. Mayor Mujeeb Kaderi claimed that this is the first fully air-conditioned government primary school in the State.
The municipality spent ₹5.51 crore on land and building. When ₹5.01 crore was spent from municipal funds, ₹50 lakh was given from local MLA P. Ubaidulla’s asset development fund.
Member of Parliament ET Mohammed Basheer inaugurated the school building in a festive atmosphere here on Sunday evening, October 19. Mr. Kaderi presided over the event. Mr Ubaidulla was the chief guest.
Deputy mayor Fousiya Kunhippu, councilors PK Sakeer Hussain, Pari Abdul Majeed, Mariyumma Shareef Konothodi, CP Ayshabi and Najiya Shihar and school principal P. Padmaja spoke. “We have taken a unique and bold initiative in this school, aiming not only to raise the standard of infrastructure and education but also to set a model for others,” Mr. Kaderi said.
