Murder inquiry after mother and children found dead near Bedford
A murder investigation has been launched after a mother and her two children were found dead at a property near Bedford.
On Monday, Bedfordshire Police broke into an address in Carnoustie Drive, Great Denham, after receiving reports the family had not been seen for several days.
Officers said they identified a suspect who was known to all the victims, but they believed he had fled the country.
Deputy Chief Constable John Murphy said: “This is an extremely distressing incident in which a mother and her two children are believed to have been murdered.”
“This is the early stages of an incredibly complex investigation. We are mobilizing all necessary resources to establish exactly what happened and find the person responsible,” he added.
Police said there were no signs of a wider risk to the public but patrols and the number of uniformed officers in the area would be increased.
Anyone with information about the incident or who saw suspicious activity in the area on Friday or Saturday is asked to report it. Contact Bedfordshire Police, external.
Police said official identification must be completed before the identities of the deceased or the suspect can be made public.
