Seven Arrested In Bangladesh Over Killing Of Hindu Youth, Says Yunus | World News

Seven people have been arrested in connection with the lynching of 27-year-old Hindu Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh, chief counsel Muhammad Yunus said on Saturday.

Chief Consultant Muhammad Yunus, in his post on X, stated that among the people arrested were Art. Limon Sarkar, Md. Tarek Hossain, Md. Manik Mia, Ershad Ali, Nijum Uddin, Alomgir Hossain and Md. Miraj Hossain said that Akon was found.

“Hindu Youth 7 Arrested in Beating Murder Case in Mymensingh Mymensingh, 20 December 2025: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested seven persons as suspects in the case of beating to death of youth Dipu Chandra Das (27), a follower of Sanatan Dharma, in Valuka, Mymensingh. The arrested persons are: 1. Md. Limon Sarkar (19) 2. Md. Tarek “3. Md. Manik Mia (20) 4. Ershad Ali (39) 5. Nijum Uddin (20) 6. Alomgir Hossain (38) 7. Md. Miraj Hossain Akon (46) RAB-14 carried out operations at various points and arrested the mentioned suspects,” he said.

Hindu Man Lynched in Bangladesh

Deepu Chandra Das was brutally lynched at Bhaluka in Mymensingh district after he was accused of blasphemy. In a video circulating on the internet, a group of people surrounding Deepu Chandra Das is seen beating him to death with sticks and then tying his body to a tree and setting it on fire.

According to media reports, the incident took place on Thursday night in the Dublia Para area. Das, a garment factory worker who lives in a rented house nearby, Hz. He was accused of making derogatory remarks about Muhammad. A crowd surrounded him, beat him with sticks, and killed him without any investigation. The attackers then tied his body to a tree and set it on fire.

The incident occurred during the unrest in Bangladesh following the death of student leader Sharif Usman Hadi. Protests in various areas turned violent, with incidents of arson, vandalism and attacks on media offices and organizations affiliated with the Awami League. These incidents have raised concerns about the safety of minority communities.
