NYPD probing after Queens drag racing street takeover damages police vehicle

The seizure of street races involving more than 100 vehicles in Queens over the weekend has triggered an NYPD investigation as authorities continue to search for suspects.
The incident was reported shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday near Eliot Boulevard and 69th Street, according to the NYPD.
Police teams arrived at the scene and dispersed the crowd by turning on lights and sirens. Later, dozens of vehicles fled the area.

Police said several vehicles were observed driving in circles.
Several others allegedly jumped on the hood of an NYPD vehicle, causing damage and breaking the windshield, then fled the scene in a black car.
No injuries were reported related to the drag racing incident.

Police said no arrests were made. (NYPD)
Police said no arrests had been made but were asking for the public’s help in identifying the eight people and four vehicles seen in the photos.
Following the incident, police launched an investigation on the surrounding streets to deter careless driving.
While on patrol, a driver was issued a summons to block a crosswalk.
