Odisha announces 21 NACs to boost infrastructure and services under urbanisation 

On Friday, August 15, 2025, the Mohan Majhi Government announced that 21 newly reported field councils (NAC) have been established to increase infrastructure and services in line with the urbanization needs of Odisha.

Prime Minister Mohan Majhi said, “Better infrastructure and urbanization are the main components of development. Only 17% of our population lives in urban areas. Considering the rapid growth of the state and the wishes of people, our government decided to establish 21 more NACs.

The creation of NACS was a major campaign plan before the 2024 elections. The previous Naveen Patnaic government promised to establish NACs and municipalities for semi -urban voters Woo, but names were never explained.

The Majhi government also announced a welfare measure that every family covered by Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana will receive 5 kg of rice per month for the next three months and will benefit the 27 Lakh family.
