Oura is launching its smallest smart ring yet

Oura on Thursday announced its latest smart ring, which it says is the smallest product offered by any company.

The company said the Oura Ring 5 will be 40% smaller than Oura’s previous generation ring. It was stated that the ring will have the same level of detection, tracking and accuracy as the previous generation.

“We’ve finally achieved what I think looks like a true technological miracle,” Oura CEO Tom Hale said in an interview with CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin on Thursday. “This is what our members have been asking for for years.” he said. “This was a difficult technological challenge. There are laws of physics regarding the size of batteries and how all the electronics, sensors can be packaged; the geometry is different because it’s so small,” he added.

The price of the ring, which will start shipping on June 4, will be $399 for basic finishes and $499 for premium finishes such as gold and brushed silver. The company will also launch a portable charging case for the new ring, priced at $99.

“I’ve been wearing it with a case for six months now, going to the gym and working out with it, and not even feeling it on my body, and I think that’s the first step in producing a truly transformative wearable,” Hale said. he said.

Oura has appeared on the CNBC Disruptor 50 list four times, including #14 in 2026. Last week, Oura secretly filed a draft of its IPO prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He did not offer a timeline for the IPO.

The company is rolling out several new tracking and health features that will work with Ring 5 as well as Oura’s 3rd and 4th generation rings. New capabilities include monitoring blood pressure patterns during sleep, which Oura says can detect warning signs of cardiovascular risk and nocturnal breathing patterns and disturbances.

Oura is also partnering with on-demand healthcare platform Counsel Health to offer AI-powered care. Oura members will be able to ask health questions, get personalized recommendations, and connect with providers in the Oura app. This capability will be available in 43 US states, Oura said.

It’s also adding features to better track live activities like running and cycling, and a GLP-1 prediction feature that will help users of these weight-loss drugs keep track of dosing schedules, weight and body changes, as well as biometric data collected by their rings.
