Over ₹1 Lakh-salaried Govt Staffer Turns Chain Snatcher Held in Kadiri

Kadiri police arrested Bhukya Ramesh Naik, an employee of the electricity department, whose salary is reported to be over Rs 1 lakh, for allegedly snatching the chain of a domestic helper at Kadiri in Satya Sai district on Saturday. Police seized two tola gold mangalasutra worth around ₹2 lakh from senior assistant Ramesh Naik, working with AP Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPPDCL).
Kadiri DSP J. Shivanarayana Swamy told the media that 42-year-old Ramesh Naik of Maruthinagar in Kadiri had resorted to snatching women’s chains in isolated places to pay off his accumulated debts.
He allegedly targeted Paipalli Shanthi, who worked as a domestic help in Maggala District of Kadiri. While Shanti was returning from work on the evening of April 28, Ramesh Naik, who was riding a scooter, snatched her gold chain from Hindupur Road and quickly fled the scene.

Police have formed four teams under the supervision of Kadiri DSP J. Siva Narayana Swamy and Kadiri Town circle inspector DV Narayana Reddy. Based on CCTV footage collected from various parts of Kadiri, police identified Ramesh Naik as the accused and arrested him near the Government Degree College building in Kadiri on Saturday morning.
