Telangana Govt. Extends Midday Meal Scheme for Inter Students

Hyderabad: The state government on Friday decided to extend a new Midday Meal Scheme to students pursuing Secondary education in Government Secondary Schools here. According to the Vice President, this marks the beginning of a new chapter in the measures we take for the welfare of students Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

The government has decided to launch a new breakfast program with quality nutrition across the state for students studying from pre-primary to secondary level, starting from the academic year 2026-27. As part of this breakfast program, each student will be given milk three days a week and ragi malt on the remaining three days.

This landmark initiative will improve nutrition and health outcomes, increase attendance and punctuality, and reduce dropout and absences. The burden on working parents will be eased. Simply put, no child in Telangana should start the school day on an empty stomach.

This is a landmark reform for students’ welfare. He added that this breakfast initiative will not only nourish bodies but also nourish the future of Telangana.
