Palace protected Andrew over trade envoy emails, says Epstein survivor

A survivor of Jeffrey Epstein has accused Buckingham Palace of covering up the actions of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor after receiving emails showing he shared classified government information as a trade envoy.

Jess Michaels said the palace’s failure to act had wider moral consequences for victims involved in the scandal surrounding the pedophile and former prince.

he said Telegram The palace disappointed Virginia Giuffre, who accused her of “protecting” Mr Mountbatten-Windsor.

Ms. Michaels, who said she was raped by Epstein in 1991, said: “This is what institutions do. They protect powerful men and let the people they harm carry it.”

“Six years ago the palace knew that Andrew was not only a problem but could face a criminal investigation, and they took that into account.

“Protecting her meant doubting her. Virginia Roberts Giuffre was telling the truth and she didn’t live to see them admit it. This breaks my heart, and it should break everyone’s heart, too.”

Ms. Giuffre, who died last year, claimed she was kidnapped by the former prince and forced to have sex with him on three separate occasions. Mr Mountbatten-Windsor vehemently denied the allegations.

Independent On Saturday it was reported that an archive of 30,000 emails from a personal business contact of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was handed over to the Lord Chamberlain, the most senior civil servant in the Royal Household, in May 2020.

Court documents allege these emails show Mr Mountbatten-Windsor shared confidential government information while serving as trade envoy between 2001 and 2011.

The former Duke of York was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office following allegations that he passed sensitive government information to Epstein.

Last week it was revealed that Thames Valley Police were also investigating Mr Mountbatten-Windsor over allegations of sexual misconduct in its investigation into possible misconduct in public office.

Ms Michaels told the paper: “I’m glad the UK has finally launched an investigation.

“It’s a little late, but at least they could have done this. Meanwhile, our government calls us victims, protects the men who hurt us, and still treats us like we’re the problem.”

In response to allegations about emails received by Buckingham Palace in 2020, a spokesman said: “As there is an ongoing police investigation into Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, it is not possible to make any comment on these matters.”

The Palace declined to comment on Ms. Michaels’ allegations.

Independent Mr Mountbatten-Windsor has been contacted for comment.
