Passport Seva Kendra opened at Thavanur post office

Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) started operations on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Thavanur Sub Post Office in the district. The new facility is the third POPSK to come under the jurisdiction of Kozhikode Regional Passport Office.

Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi inaugurated the centre. Member of Parliament Abdussamad Samadani presided over the event.

The Ministry of External Affairs termed the launch as a milestone, stating that at least one Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or POPSK has been established in every Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala.

Thavanur POPSK is expected to improve access to passport services for residents of Ponnani Lok Sabha constituency and neighboring areas by reducing travel distance and waiting time.

The center will initially process up to 50 passport applications per day, with plans to increase capacity to 100 applications per day in the coming months.
