Pep Guardiola, one of the greatest coaches in the history of English football, will step down as manager of Manchester City after their final match against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.
Guardiola will open the curtain on ten magical years at the Etihad, during which he won 20 trophies and established City as one of the world’s leading clubs.
The 55-year-old has led City to six league titles, including an unprecedented four in a row, and led the club to its first Champions League victory.
City are thought to have started telling their sponsor partners that the announcement would be imminent. The news also remained an open secret among some people close to Guardiola.
The news is expected to be confirmed sometime on Sunday, when Guardiola’s stunning impact on English football will be celebrated in an open-top bus parade on Monday.
The parade is said to start at 4pm in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and finish in front of the Colin Bell Stand reception at the Etihad Stadium an hour later.

Guardiola’s departure this summer has been rumored for several months, with it emerging that the Catalan was considering ending his reign at City.
As a reference, he has 1 year left on his contract and it is possible that he will stay at the club for a while.
Candidates to replace him include former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca and Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany.
City won the FA Cup by beating Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley on Saturday and continues to challenge Arsenal for the Premier League title.
They will face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday evening before the final at the Etihad on Sunday.
