Perth cancer doctor admits he made AI child sex videos
A respected Perth cancer doctor has pleaded guilty to possessing and producing child abuse material.
Dr Peter Charles Swift, 68, was arrested last month after police searched his multimillion-dollar property in Dalkeith.
He was initially charged with two counts of possessing child abuse material and once with producing the same, but was charged with a further five counts of possession after police continued to examine the devices they seized from his home.
Swift worked at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and was previously a consultant nuclear physician at Princess Margaret Hospital.
He specialized in general nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography and nuclear medicine therapy in the treatment of benign and malignant thyroid diseases, neuroendocrine tumors and lymphoma.
At her first hearing last month, police prosecutors said 22 devices were seized from Swift’s home containing real and AI-generated videos and photos of children engaging in sexual activity.
These devices included numerous laptops, personal computers, iPads, phones and hard drives that allegedly depicted child abuse material at category 1 and category 2 levels.
Prosecutors told the court there were AI-generated videos of children participating in sex acts that Swift had created herself. The other videos found were of real girls under the age of 13.
Swift was released on bail a few days later and appeared in court in person on Friday, where he pleaded guilty to all eight charges.
Swift’s attorney, Henry Sklarz, had previously told the court his client was a good candidate for bail because he was a “long-time and respected medical professional” and “dedicated his life to the public hospital system, saving lives from cancer.”
“She has become known throughout the country for her work and is highly respected,” Sklarz told the judge at Swift’s final hearing.
Swift’s bail was renewed on Friday and he will appear in the District Court for sentencing in September.
