Global crude oil prices have been fluctuating in recent days due to the conflicts in the Middle East involving Iran, Israel and the USA. The crisis has raised concerns about possible disruptions to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy hub through which about 20% of global oil supply passes.
However, the government assured that there was no shortage of LPG, petrol or diesel in the country and urged people not to panic amid reports of increased demand in some areas. “We have enough gasoline and diesel. There is no shortage of gasoline pumps,” it was said. “Therefore, do not believe rumors and avoid panic buying. There has been no increase in petrol and diesel prices,” the government said. Petrol and diesel prices in India have remained unchanged since May 2022 following tax cuts by the central government and various state governments.
