Former BBC Radio 1 presenter Jameela Jamil said on the: UNFILTERED podcast about her time on The Good Place: “I’m so lucky to have been a part of that programme. “It was so well written that Megan Amram, one of the head writers on that programme, wrote some nonsense from Tahini so we all created it together.
“But I had to make her a little more goofy, they wanted her to be so cute.
“Americans think the British are so sweet, and it’s crazy because the British are literally the worst people in history. They are Thanos. Britain is Thanos. They owe 43 trillion to India. We are colonizing the world.”
The comments sparked a furious response online; Users flocked to X to criticize the television star’s criticism of England.
Piers Morgan led the search and suggested Ms Jamil might consider moving to another country if she was so passionate about the evil of Britain.
He said: “Excellent… then obviously Miss Jamil will no longer want to grace us with her graceless presence.”
Broadcaster Darren Grimes came to the country’s defense, listing historic achievements that continue to benefit the world.
He said: “Britain gave the world the Industrial Revolution, took on a huge national debt to abolish the global slave trade, stood alone against fascism and built modern parliamentary democracy.
“Yet Jameela Jamil is in Hollywood telling Americans that British people are ‘literally the worst people in history.’
“The self-hating, metropolitan liberal elites never cease to amaze. An absolute disgrace.”
Political commentator Narinder Kaur defended the comments by listing allegations of brutality that have been heavily debated by historians to this day.
He said: “The racist abuse Jameela Jamil has received for stating THE TRUTH about the British Empire and the race riots we have recently seen in Britain literally proves her point.
“The real question for anyone outraged at Jameela Jamil: What exactly do you call engineering scarcity, two centuries of subjugation, and mass murder if not evil???
“And I will not accept stupid uneducated answers like ‘railroads'”
